Is It a Purse or a Skirt? Xtina hannels Y2K Style in Daring Sparkly Look

2023.08.02. 17:45, Ani

The musician shared a series of Instagram photos that exuded the ultimate early 2000s vibes

Christina Aguilera is showing off her stylish goods.

The Burlesque star, 42, who’s known to rock plenty of stop-and-stare getups, decided to don a totally 2000s look for her newest Instagram post.

In the photos, shared Monday, the “Genie in the Bottle” singer, styled by Chris Horan, poses in a spring/summer ’24 Namilia rose crystal micro skirt designed in the shape of a handbag. The snug bedazzled mini features purse-like pockets in the front as well as a rounded strap.

The two-in-one style is a common silhouette of the provocative clothing brand, which sells plenty of skin-baring pieces.

Aguilera teamed the light-catching bottoms with a black T-shirt, transparent heels and A-Morir eyewear.

Even the musician’s nails were painted to perfection, her fingers decorated with long pointy white tips accented with a black wavy design, and her toes polished in a bright yellow shade.

“Precious Goods,” Aguilera captioned the photos.

On the topic of nails, Aguilera is all about making a statement, fashion or other, with her lengthy claws.

While appearing on a sexually charged episode of Call Her Daddy in April, she wore a very fitting set of three-dimensional NSFW nails that sent out a strong message.

“I’m staring at your nails, what’s happening?” host Alex Cooper inquired before coming right out and asking, “Is that a vagina?”

“Oh yes,” Aguilera said with a smile. “They’re so fun.”

“It’s open to interpretation,” she continued. “It could be a vagina; it could be lips, but two in the same, both pleasure points, you know.”

“This couldn’t be more appropriate for a Call Her Daddy episode,” Cooper said while laughing. “Casual Christina Aguilera is like, ‘It could be lips, it could be my p—- lips, God bless you all, up for interpretation,’ ” Cooper added.

Aguilera has previously opened up about liberating her sexuality and how she aspires to empower other women to do the same.

“This is a very natural progression for me personally,” Aguilera told PEOPLE while talking about her new role as sexual wellness brand Playground’s co-founder and chief brand advisor.  “[I hope to] inspire other women to feel comfortable with talking about their experiences and owning their body and their sexuality and what that means to them, because every woman is different.”

Xtina Talks Losing Her Virginity Later in Life

2023.04.05. 13:45, Ani

Christina Aguilera is opening up about the later start to her sex life amid her sexualized persona in her early ’20s.

The 42-year-old pop star appeared on Wednesday’s Call Her Daddy podcast where she revealed that despite her “Dirrty” and Stripped years, she didn’t actually lose her virginity until later in life.

“It’s so funny that I gave this persona because I probably was the last person to lose my virginity,” the mother of two shared. “It was something that was for me. I guess that’s why my messages went the way they did too because I owned it first, maybe.”

When podcast host Alex Cooper specifically asked Aguilera when she lost her virginity, the chart topper kept her answer vague, noting, “It was later than you would think, given the girl that was doing ‘Dirrty’ and all this stuff. It’s more of a funny thing looking back.”

Aguilera also shared of her early sexual experiences, “I had certain dancers that were close. You’re traveling a lot and you have accessibility to only certain things. It is what it is… A lot of things where I’m like, ‘Maybe I should have realized, he wasn’t looking at me. He wasn’t interested in me. He was looking at him.’ A lot of things where I’m like, ‘Oh, sad!’ I feel bad for my younger self.”

When asked about her dating history not including many celebrity men, Aguilera said, “I didn’t really have time for that. I always went for things that I would feel safe about.”

Aguilera elaborated that dating within the entertainment industry never appealed to her knowing all she knows about the busy schedules and life on the road.

“My life is hectic enough, and this is a very narcissistic industry. My anxieties couldn’t maybe take somebody that did the exact same thing I did,” she said. “I know how this goes. I’m too vulnerable for this. I’m too sensitive to be so paranoid.”

Aguilera, who has been engaged to production assistant Matt Rutler since 2014, said she likes “guys next door” types.

She shared that she was never interested in being pressured into a relationship for publicity’s sake.

“If it’s not real to me and authentic, I can’t do it. I can’t force something as personal as that,” she explained.

As for her longtime “feuds” with other celebrities, Aguilera also had a message for those she said are trying to “poke” and “bait” her.

“I want peaceful energy, peaceful vibes. I don’t need to be talking about things that happened decades ago. Let’s grow up, let’s embrace,” she said. “I just don’t have time for the petty bulls**t.”

Xtina joins Playground lube to champion sex positivity

2023.03.30. 18:00, Ani

Soft-launched in May 2022, Playground, a sexual health and wellness company with one product, made a louder splash on Tuesday with its announcement of Christina Aguilera as co-founder and chief brand adviser.

The brand launched with one product, a water-based personal lubricant selling for $25. It comes in four scents, which the brand refers to as “essences.’ Playground expects to release five more products this year.

Aguilera was introduced to Playground co-founder and CEO Catherine Magee through her fiancé, Matthew Rutler. “He heard about the product, and I was like, ‘Tell me more.’ [Women’s sexual health] is something I can talk about for days. it’s been a vital part of the messaging in my career. And I’ve always wanted to empower women to feel safe enough to open up, share stories and talk about it. Every vagina is different,” Aguilera told Glossy.

In the past couple of years, the sexual health category has been on fire. Ulta Beauty and Sephora have both begun to sell vibrators and lubes, expanding the definition of a beauty or wellness product. What’s more, there have been countless lube launches. Magee noted that, in spite of the proliferation of launches, there hasn’t been innovation. “Most of the brands that are new and part of this renaissance are just white-labeling a drugstore formula,” she said, explaining that lubricant must be FDA-approved.

Playground’s formula is different from its competitors, she said, noting, “We have six ingredients that have never been put in a lubricant before.” The brand uses a proprietary adaptogen blend that includes ashwagandha, black cohosh and horny goat weed, all of which increase blood flow, she said.

“Six out of 10 women have arousal issues — in some cases, dysfunction,” Magee said, referring to Cedars-Sinai research. “And women are prone to irritation from sperm and condoms. We use hyaluronic acid and vitamin E to help lock in moisture.”

“It’s a wellness issue,” Aguilera said, of her new mission to bring attention to Playground. “It was so sad to me to realize that [women] walk into a store and think nothing of buying a hair or makeup product, to make us feel pretty. But … [wellness] starts on the inside. I was shocked to find out … that this is a decades-old space that has predominantly been taken over by men who don’t have vaginas and who are putting harmful ingredients for women [in these products].”

Magee’s background is in beauty: She previously held roles in marketing at Bare Minerals, Rodan + Fields and The Balm. She said one of her goals is for women to speak as freely about sexual wellness and self-care as they do their beauty routines. To that end, it’s not surprising that Playground is design-forward. The blush bottles are designed to be a “bedside best friend,” according to Magee. “It’s so pretty, it’s so soft, and it just fits in with your other products,” Aguilera said, of the packaging.

In tandem with the brand’s announcement of Aguilera’s involvement, it will debut a “personal conversation” between Aguilera and Dr. Emily Morse (@sexwithemily; 500,000 Instagram followers). Playground, Aguilera and Morse will share the video across social media platforms. Aguilera, or @xtina on Instagram, has 8.9 million followers. Aguilera’s role with the brand is more about being a “voice” than a “face,” Magee said.

“She really wants to help change us change the stigma around [sexual health]. So that’s step one,” she said.

In April, Playground will launch at Revolve and Urban Outfitters. To date, the brand has been available on Amazon and its own website.

Aguilera hopes to inspire other women with her own view of sex positivity: “The vagina is our epicenter and our source where everything’s dumped out. If our vagina feels good, we feel good. I just want to keep progressing and pushing the conversations forward, making this safe and also fun! Sexuality is a fun thing. Case in point, with the name: Playground. We are our own playground and our own vessel. [Vaginas] deserve respect and love and to be taken care of and nurtured. That’s what we’re trying to do with this special product — to give people something they can feel good about in their hands, and vaginas.”

Xtina Says ‘Aging Is a Personal Conversation’...

2023.03.03. 19:00, Ani

The pop icon opens up exclusively to PEOPLE about her decision to partner with anti-wrinkle injection, Xeomin

Christina Aguilera has been owning her image since she first stepped onto the scene as a child star at the age of 6. And to hear her tell it, she was never going to let anyone dictate how to feel about her appearance. She even wrote a Grammy-winning anthem about self-acceptance — 2002’s Grammy-winning chart-topper, “Beautiful.”

Now, more than 20 years later, the 42-year-old superstar is continuing to stay authentic to herself while exploring products that make her look and feel her best. In an interview with PEOPLE, Aguilera gets candid about her first-ever injectables collaboration with Xeomin, an anti-wrinkle injection used to improve the look of frown lines, stepping in as a brand partner for its empowering ‘Beauty on Your Terms’ campaign. (Gwyneth Paltrow has previously teamed with the brand.)

“I’m always interested in finding new products that excite me and make me feel my best,” Aguilera tells PEOPLE. “Xeomin felt like the safest way to go because it doesn’t have any extra ingredients. It’s reassurance that no matter how tired I may be, I have back-up.”

Aguilera’s foray into the “smart tox” space has not only given her added confidence, but helped her maintain a more “natural look,” something that’s top of mind for her as a singer and performer.

“We like expression, especially in my line of work,” she says. “I don’t want to have a frozen face. Whether it’s being on-camera or performing onstage, I have to stay authentic to my emotion.”

And while Aguilera is open to trying new things to make her feel her most confident, she also hopes to flip the script on the language used around aging.

“Viewing aging as a negative is a super old-school approach,” Aguilera tells PEOPLE. “I’ve seen myself go through different stages of my life and complain about certain things. As I’ve gotten older, I look back, and I’m like, ‘God, every stage is a new era.’ I’m really into feeling more self-assured as you get older. That’s the thing to truly embrace. It’s harmful when [aging] becomes an obsession.”

She adds: “I also think that everybody has a different outlook with how they want to age. It’s a very personal conversation — what works for some people might not work for others.”

According to the superstar singer, more than two decades in the industry has taught her to embrace the evolution of her appearance and womanhood.

“Things are going to change as you grow older—especially as women. I started performing at around 6 in my hometown, and I never stopped,” she says. “Being in the public eye is an added element that can complicate your view of yourself. People are going to have an opinion no matter what you do, no matter what you wear. The artistry always comes first to me.”
