Christina Aguilera rocks fabulous tiny hat in Zoe first look photo

She might already be queen of the music charts, but Christina Aguilera is extending her reign into the realm of tiny hats in EW’s exclusive first look photo from her upcoming movie Zoe.
The futuristic sci-fi drama — directed by Equals helmer Drake Doremus — is billed as a forbidden love story between an android, Zoe (Léa Seydoux), and her divorced colleague, Cole (Ewan McGregor), at a high-tech research facility specializing in perfecting a computerized system that pairs humans with their ideal match — which also includes a pool of robotic life forms known as “synthetics.” All seems well until Zoe discovers a harsh truth about their relationship, driving a wedge between the central lovers as the titular character embarks on a journey of discovery as her pairing with Cole hangs in limbo.
Aguilera has a small role as a robotic prostitute named Jewels who, by the looks of it, has a penchant for accessorizing (and running her hands through unkempt beards) while she works in an underground brothel.
“Originally elements of Zoe were going to be a TV show and then we realized that it was a film instead. The idea was just an amalgamation of a lot of feelings and questions we had about our own existence and relationships,” says Doremus, who helmed the film based on a script by Richard Greenberg, via press statement. “The film is also very much about longing for the things that we need and desire as humans… I’m super interested in what people think they are missing in their lives and how they go about filling those holes in their hearts. What also interests me about it is, what we tell ourselves isn’t good for us, actually is in the end. It’s sometimes easier to be attracted to people that aren’t good for you and it’s a shame. This one’s really about the ability to let yourself be loved by the right person.”
Zoe marks Aguilera’s first live-action movie role since fronting the cast of the 2010 musical Burlesque alongside Cher. She subsequently appeared on three episodes of the TV drama Nashville in 2015, and later lent her voice to the 2017 animated flick The Emoji Movie before returning to television as a guest judge on the season 10 premiere on RuPaul’s Drag Race in March. The singer, who’s rumored to be dropping a new album later this year, is next set to appear as herself in the Melissa McCarthy comedy Life of the Party, due out May 11.
Though a distributor for the project has yet to be announced, Zoe — also starring Theo James, Rashida Jones, Matthew Gray Gubler, and Miranda Otto — is set to world-premiere at the 2018 Tribeca Film Festival on Saturday.

Christina Aguilera will release new music in May: "Mostly pop with some R&B"
2018.04.16. 10:00
This genie is ready to break free from her bottle. Months after teasing on Instagram that her first album in six years is “coming, bitches,” Christina Aguilera has settled on a May release date. “It’s mostly pop with some R&B sounds,” a source reveals.
And the five-time Grammy winner, 37, will make sure the project gets plenty of attention. “She’s in talks with the Billboard Music Awards to make her first big appearance in years,” when the show airs on NBC on May 20, the source says. Aguilera is also in negotiations “for multiple radio summer shows, like Wango Tango,” adds the source. “Her team is in full-on planning mode.”
The former Voice judge may also be working on a new look to go with her comeback. In March, she was nearly unrecognizable without makeup on the cover of Paper magazine. “I’m a girl that likes a beat face,” the normally made-up singer confessed in the interview as the fresh-faced pics showed off her freckles and blue eyes.
“I’ve always been someone that obviously loves to experiment, loves theatrics, loves to create a storyline and play a character in a video or through stage. I’m a performer, that’s who I am by nature,” she told the publication. “But I’m at the place, even musically, where it’s a liberating feeling to be able to strip it all back and appreciate who you are and your raw beauty.”
Aguilera will have three people to celebrate the release of her new music: her fiancé, Matthew Rutler, with whom she shares daughter Summer, 3 , and 9-year-old son Max, whose father is the Burlesque star’s ex-husband, Jordan Bratman.
