Record-breaking global superstar Christina Aguilera has announced she’s returning to the UK for headline shows this August – including a date on the Yorkshire coast.
Singer, songwriter, producer, entrepreneur, and one of the best-selling artists in the world the songbird will be bringing her iconic vocals and impeccable routines to Scarborough Open Air Theatre on Tuesday, August 2.
Scarborough Open Air Theatre’s live music programmer Peter Taylor is delighted to be bringing another global star to Britain’s biggest open air concert arena – following the likes of Britney Spears in 2018 and Kylie in 2019.
Peter said: “Christina Aguilera is a music superstar and true global icon and we are absolutely thrilled to announce she is coming to Scarborough this summer!
“Christina is only playing a handful of shows in the UK so to bring her here is another major coup for Scarborough Open Air Theatre and the Yorkshire coast.
“First Britney, then Kylie and now Christina – three incredible women on the global stage – all headlining this special venue. Roll on August 2 – this is going to be one of the must-see shows of the summer!”
More than 20 years after her self-titled debut album, Christina Aguilera has established herself as one of the biggest and most recognised solo female artists having sold more than 43 million records worldwide, collected more than 18 million Spotify listens, received more than three billion YouTube views and achieved five number 1 US singles, making her the fourth female artist to top the charts over three consecutive decades (1990s, 2000s, and 2010s).
Back in 2010, Christina received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and holds the prestigious honour of being the only artist under the age of 30 included in Rolling Stone Magazine’s list of the 100 greatest singers of all time. Renowned for her powerful voice and hit singles, Christina Aguilera, is no doubt a global superstar and voice of a generation.
Christina’s UK Tour dates follow the release of her new singe Pa Mis Muchachas, her much anticipated return to her Latin roots. Returning to Spanish-language music, the song celebrates Latina sisterhood by featuring global Latin music superstar Becky G, explosive Argentinian rising star Nicki Nicole and Spain-based provoking songwriter and rapper Nathy Peluso. The Latin Grammy Award Winner is set to make another major mark on Latin music and culture as only she can.
Fans can expect all the hits including, ‘Dirrty’, ‘Ain’t No Other Man’, ‘Fighter’ and ‘Genie in a Bottle’ as well as more arena-filling anthems this August.
Christina Aguilera has been announced as the main headline act for this year’s Brighton Pride.
NEW: Prepare to be starstruck. Record-breaking global superstar Christina Aguilera (@xtina) is coming to the UK to play @TheO2, @MandSBankArena and @scarboroughOAT this summer! 🤩
The multi Grammy award-winning US singer will perform a “pride exclusive” show on Saturday 6 August, organisers said.
Brit award-winning Paloma Faith was announced as the Sunday headline act on Thursday.
The festival will run from 5 to 7 August after it was cancelled two years running due to Covid-19.
In 2019, Aguilera, famed for hits including What A Girl Wants and Genie In A Bottle, was honoured with the Human Rights Campaign (HRC) Ally for Equality Award.
Brighton Pride usually attracts crowds of about 250,000 people.
Its keenly-anticipated 30th anniversary celebrations were cancelled last year because of coronavirus restrictions.
It was the second year running the event was axed, following the cancellation of 2020’s festival which was due to be headlined by Mariah Carey.
In a nod to Aguilera’s global hit record, Brighton Pride director Paul Kemp said: “It’s going to be ‘Beautiful’.”
He added: “As we celebrate our (delayed) 30th anniversary, we are really thrilled to have secured an iconic star and LGBTQ+ ally such as Christina Aguilera to perform at the Preston Park Pride festival, our main fundraiser for the Brighton Rainbow Fund.”
This Spanish-language EP is the first of three the singer will release this year

“I’ve never stopped being an Aguilera no matter what happens or what’s hot or trending,” Christina said in a recent interview about her new EP, La Fuerza. The pop icon embraces her Ecuadorian roots on her first major Latin release in more than two decades. The EP’s title translates to “The Strength,” which Aguilera flexes with her powerhouse vocals across six new songs that span pop, ranchera, and reggaetón music influences.
Aguilera made her debut in the Latin market in 2000, with Mi Reflejo, which included Spanish translations of her hits from her debut album alongside a few covers and original songs. In the years that followed, Aguilera intermittently dropped songs in Spanish, including the Bionic standout “Desnudate,” and the breathtaking “Hoy Tengo Ganas de Ti” with Mexican crooner Alejandro Fernández.
Aguilera returned to Miami, where she recorded Mi Reflejo as a teen, to work on La Fuerza. Now, as a 41-year-old woman, she shares the spotlight with the next generation of Latina acts on the mighty “Pa Mis Muchachas.” Aguilera is joined by Chicana pop star Becky G and Argentine artists Nathy Peluso and Nicki Nicole. Backed by Cuban guaracha with a twist of trap beats, Aguilera fiercely leads the flirty Latina empowerment anthem.
The ballads are another highlight of La Fuerza, where Aguilera’s powerful vocals soar. In the piano-led “Somos Nada,” Aguilera weathers the elements and heartbreak to find her inner strength to move on. The fittingly titled “La Reina” is the best song on the EP; on it, Aguilera issues a response to the king of ranchera music Vicente Fernández‘s “El Rey.” With the raw emotion that underscores ranchera, Aguilera belts in Spanish, “Although you are still king, you’re nothing without the queen.” Her vocal prowess is extraordinary in any language.
Aguilera dabbles in reggaetón alongside Puerto Rican superstar Ozuna in the sexy “Santo,” proving she’s still dirrty as she pleads with the saints to save her from a life of eternal perreando (a.k.a. twerking). “Ya Llegué” is another alluring romp, on which Aguilera evokes “Genio Atrapado,” the Spanish version of “Genie in a Bottle.” Out of the reggaetón songs, only “Como Yo” feels underwhelming and dated. It’s a shame for filler to exist on this already short EP. La Fuerza is the “first chapter” of three Spanish EPs that Aguilera will release throughout the year. It’s a good first effort, but working within the sonically expansive and culturally rich Latin music scene, hopefully there’s more variety on the next installments.

Twenty-three years, nine albums, every possible look, a Las Vegas residency, three stints as a judge on The Voice, five Grammys (a Latin Grammy!), and two children have passed since “Genie in a Bottle” came out. Not to mention the time that has passed since the Mickey Mouse Club. Even so, Christina Aguilera took the time to improve her Spanish; although sometimes it confuses her that a word has five different meanings, depending on the country.
I caught up with Christina a couple of days after she received the American Music Award for music icon. I took the opportunity to review her career, we talked about her Latin roots (which she does not intend to give up), her love for Chavela Vargas and how she is tired of asking for forgiveness.
Thus, Christina stars on the February cover of ELLE Mexico and presents her new album in Spanish, where she sings with Latin artists Nathy Peluso, Nicki Nicole and Becky G.
Christina Aguilera (CA): In February of last year I was in Miami and immersed myself in the experience of being surrounded by the most wonderful musicians, songwriters and singers. I fell in love with music again. There is nothing like a sense of belonging and live music. After so long in the industry, you forget the fun part and the reasons why you started. I found that feeling again, we were all very happy to create together. It reminded me of my first album in Spanish, My reflection.
Christina Aguilera is back and more bilingual than ever! The singer is releasing her new song “Santo” with Ozuna, and she breaks her silence on ex-Mickey Mouse Club cast member, Britney Spears finally being free.
After her highly anticipated return to Latine Pop, musical icon Christina Aguilera announced her latest collaboration off her upcoming Spanish EP La Fuerza , “Santo” featuring Ozuna. The song is slated to drop on Jan. 20.
No matter what age you are, it’s a unanimous sentiment that Grammy Award-winning artist Christina Aguilera (@xtina) is one of the greatest female icons of all time. Not only is her vocal range unmatched, but her ensembles have gone down in history as some of the most epic outfits of all time that the most famed celebrities in the world have re-created over the past 20-plus years. From her emergence on the scene in Disney’s The Mickey Mouse Club when she was a young star-in-the-making, it was undisputed by all that Aguilera was a once-in-a-generation talent.
